RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Manager, Planning & Environment to the Planning &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 15 September 2015 providing development compliance
statistics for January to July 2015.
REPORT
The purpose of the report is to provide Council with some statistics with regard to development
compliance with The Noosa Plan and development approval conditions undertaken by the DA
Planning Area. The statistics provided within this report cover the period from 1 January 2015 to
31 July 2015.
1. Background
Council’s DA Planning & Environment Branch has the responsibility for the enforcement of The
Noosa Plan requirements and Local Law provisions (in respect to advertising signage). This
includes:
The audit of development approvals for compliance with the Decision Notice and conditions.
The receipting and release of planning performance bonds.
The proactive audit of advertising devices under The Noosa Plan & Local Law.
The response to complaints regarding breaches of the planning scheme requirements and
development approvals.
Notably, Council’s Building & Plumbing Branch currently undertakes compliance on matters
relating to dwelling houses being constructed contrary to The Noosa Plan or development
approval.
Audit of Development Approvals
All development approvals are audited for compliance with the development approval and
conditions. This audit is predominantly triggered by a written request by the applicant advising
that the development is completed and the applicant would like the planning performance bond
returned. A minority are triggered by the tracking of the currency of development approvals
through Council’s Corporate System, Tech One Property, as a back stop.
