The cost of undertaking development compliance includes one full time officer, plus input by the
branch Manager and from specialist officers as needed. At times it is necessary to involve
Council’s solicitor and/or take action through the Planning & Environment Court for some matters
which cannot otherwise be satisfactorily resolved and this can be a costly but a necessary step.
Notwithstanding the costs, development compliance is important in maintaining Noosa’s iconic
values and supports the maintenance of the planning scheme’s integrity. It also responds and
addresses community concerns such as impacts on amenity, environment, traffic safety etc and
provides a trigger for payment of infrastructure charges for developments.
