Details of Submission I, make the following submission: The greater Noosa area needs to be as self-sufficient as possible in addressing the retail needs of its own population as well as those of all of our visitors. As an accommodation provider who primarily services the tourism sector, we are always being asked why we don’t have a greater diversity of shopping choices. We have no choice but to send them out of our area to meet their requirements. As a consumer who is responsible for the upkeep and furnishings of more than 20 townhouses, we have limited choice available to us. Whilst we attempt to support local businesses, we also have an obligation to our unit owners to source our products in the most ecomical means. This currently lends us to travel to other areas of the Sunshine Coast where this is a greater variety of suppliers to choose from. I have viewed the proposal for the Noosa Civic expansion and strongly support it. Apart from the diversity of retail shopping that it will attract, another of its strengths will be the underground car parking that is planned so that the visual impact can be reduced.
