2. QUALITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1. RESPONSIBILITY
The Contractor shall be responsible for and shall provide all necessary materials, labour and equipment to
carry out the works as well as any exploratory works required to ascertain the exact position of existing
services and required processes to ensure their protection. All employees are to be made aware of any
underground services.

The Contractor is responsible for the management of the construction site and control of construction
activities throughout the period of the Contract, with particular attention to reducing the impact of the
construction work on members of the public, adjacent and nearby properties and other areas of the site not
part of the Contract.

Prior to commencing work the contractor is to contact the Landscape Architect to attain the most current
document package.

2.2. EXISTING WORKS
Where works are adjacent to existing works, the Contractor is responsible for making the proper junction
between new and existing works and for making good any damage caused by the Contractor to the adjoining
works.

The Contractor shall not disturb the existing ground surface outside of areas or locations shown on the
Drawings. However, if there is any damage outside of these areas, rectification works are to occur
immediately.

2.3. WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY
All work is to comply with relevant Australian Standards and Authority Standards as applicable. In the lack of
any other reference to standards, refer to relevant Australian Standard.

Any work or materials, which, in the opinion of the Landscape Architect, do not meet appropriate industry
standards of workmanship or quality will be rejected. It will be the Contractor’s responsibility to remove
rejected work and reinstall it to an acceptable standard at no additional cost to the Project Manager.

There are to be no sharp protrusions or abrasive edges, obtrusive fittings or fixtures. Each colour is to be a
uniform finish and there is to be no staining of adjacent materials. All materials are to be corrosion free. The
Contractor is to repair or replace any damaged softscape, paving, kerbing, walls, fences, services, building
facades or structures inside or outside the extent of works, which were damaged due to the Contractors.

All materials liable to deteriorate by exposure to the weather shall be kept under cover at a location approved
by the Superintendent and the Contractor shall be held responsible for loss or deterioration occurring in the
course of loading, unloading, transit or storage, no matter what the cause.

Overseas products and materials may be accepted, but must be accompanied by relevant certification from
a registered Australian Testing Authority to confirm the product or material achieves the performance
requirements complying with the Australian Building Code, Australian Standards, Green Star Requirement or
any other relevant standards.

2.4. SAFETY & CONDUCT
The Contractor is responsible for:

• carrying out the Contract in a safe manner. Taking due care to prevent injuries to the public or to people
       involved in the project.
