Landscape Specification
CONTENTS Luminescence contrast testing Contrast between stair thread paver and stair nosing to be tested and approved as per AS1428. Contrast between tactile indicators and adjacent pavement to be tested and approved as per AS1428.\ Efflorescence Take all necessary measures to ensure no efflorescence occurs. Select base materials and include admixtures to prevent the occurrence of efflorescence. Structural Requirements Refer to Engineer's Specifications for slab thicknesses, cover to reinforcing, reinforcing, concrete MPa and base course requirements. Engineers Specifications take precedence over the requirements noted in this item. Structural slab to be fully cured to the current curing recommendations. Floating Pavement Due to the different profile depth between structural slab and pavement finish level a suspended slab with structural support shall be considered in those areas. In areas where planting extends underneath the suspended slab, the slab is to be placed on stratavault and walls shall be placed on the boundary of the soil trench zone. No structural support to be placed within the soil volume. Levels Ensure there is no more than 2mm different in height between adjoining pavement segments, other adjoining pavements, top of kerbs or pit covers (unless specified otherwise). Spot levels take precedence over contour lines and existing ground profile lines. Tactile Indicator Install tactile indicators in accordance with AS1428. Natural Stone paver To ensure the site wide consistency of all granite used across the site including other consultant works the natural stone shall be supplied from the same quarry. Confirm with Superintendent the source and colour of all other site examples of stone. Source samples of stones to be installed by others to ensure matching works are achieved. Concrete Joints All joints to be laid out as indicated on the construction drawings. If the location and type of construction joints are not shown on the drawings, submit proposed location and detail of construction joints to the Landscape Architect for approval prior to the start of formwork placement. Periods of stoppage in concrete of 3/4 hour or more are deemed to be construction joints. Ensure that joint widths between pavers at dowelled construction joints are equal to the underlying concrete pavement joint widths. The concrete base slab should not be designed solely as a jointed reinforced concrete pavement (JRCP) but must be designed and detailed to avoid differential strains between the pavers and the concrete slab. Pavers to be laid immediately following construction of concrete base to avoid shrinkage of slab. Expansion joints All visible expansion joints to be 10mm wide zipped polyethylene foam (e.g. Abelflex) sealed with an approved coloured sealant (e.g. Sikaflex or equivalent). Colour to match the lightest coloured adjacent pavement. Expansion joints in structural slab underneath (both basement and single slab) are to be carried through to the surface in the same dimensions. Control joints To be 20mm deep cut saws. Make the joint straight and true, and free from blemishes impermissible for its surface finish class. URBIS URB-SPC-LAN-P0025138 - IFC.DOCX PAGE 32
