Permit Environmental authority EPPRO00439413 Agency interest: General Condition number Condition 4-G1 Dredging operations The only form of dredging to be carried out is the relocation of accumulated clean sand for the purpose of beach replenishment, maintaining navigational channels and maintaining flood mitigation profiles. 4-G2 Approved programs of dredging include: 1. aprogram to trial recycling of clean uncontaminated sand from Noosa Spit Beach to Noosa Main Beach using a submarine sea shifter for a two (2) year period (being 31 December 2009 to December 2011 inclusive); and 2. the permanent recycling of clean uncontaminated sand from Noosa Spit Beach to Noosa Main Beach using a submarine sand shifter to be constructed on or before the expiry of the abovementioned trial recycling program. 4-G3 All dredging works are to be conducted within the designated ‘area of sand extraction’ for placement in the designated ‘area of sand deposition’ as per the approved plan in Schedule 5 — Figure 3 of this environmental auhtority. 4-G4 Within two (2) months of completion of the permanent recycling facility, all structures and associated equipment used for the trial program must be removed and any disturbed areas must be appropriately stabilised and rehabilitated. Agency interest: Water Condition | Condition number 4-W1 The only contaminants permitted to be released to any waters (including the bed or banks of such waters) are sediments necessarily disturbed during dredging, and the placement of dredge material. 4-W2 There must be no impact as a result of the sand shifting facility or associated works on the Noosa River, including but not limited to, impact on water quality, hydrology and ecology. 4-W3 Release points Contaminants that may cause environmental harm must not be directly or indirectly released to any waters from the authorised place at any location other than those listed below: 1. wastewater discharge point from the dredged material placement pipe or the discharge point of any drainage system used during the transfer of dredge material; and 2. dredging action while extracting material. 4-W4 Environmental impact investigation The holder of the environmental authority must investigate, at six (6) monthly intervals, the environmental impacts of the activity and submit a report outlining the investigation and its findings to the administering authority within one (1) month of the final monitoring result being received for that period. The report must address the following: 1. volume of material relocated; and 2. current profiles across the ‘area of deposition’.
