*For the purpose of this condition, a “background value” for a quality characteristic is the value of the quality characteristic
measured at a background sampling and in situ monitoring points in the receiving waters not affected by the release
situated between fifty (5) and one hundred (100) metres up-current from the release point and the background must be
measured one hour either side of the local high water and local low water.

**Associated monitoring requirements

1. Monitoring must be conducted in accordance with the methods prescribed in the current edition of the administering
authority's Monitoring and Sampling Manual 2009.

Water quality samples must be representative of water being tested.

All determinations must employ an analytical practical quantification limits of sufficient sensitivity to enable reliable
comparisons to be made against the assessment criteria relevant to the particular water quality characteristic.

4. Monitoring must be undertaken during a release as per the frequency stated.

All monitoring devices must be correctly calibrated and maintained.

2-W3

The only contaminants to be released to surface waters are bed sediments necessarily disturbed
during dredging and releases must occur in accordance with Table 3: Contaminant release
limits to water and the associated monitoring requirements.

2-W4

The deposition of dredge material on the beach nourishment areas must not result in a visible
plume twenty-five (25) metres from the point of entry of the wastewater runoff (condition 2-G3
provides a definition of ‘beach nourishment area under this schedule).

2-W5

The generation of a plume from the dredge of material within the dredge footprint must not
result in a visible plume thirty (30) metres from the point of suction of the dredge material
(condition 2-G2 provides a definition of ‘dredging area’ under this schedule),
