Attachment 1—Further advice
Site is listed on the Department of Defence UXO register as a “Substantial” potentially
affected area
1. Substantial
A history of numerous UXO finds or heavy residual fragmentation. Areas likely to be
assessed as substantial include impact areas, demolition sites and areas of heavy explosive
ordnance dumping.
Advice
All land usage may continue without specific UXO search or remediation; however
development and/or land usage re-zoning proposals for land parcels considered to be
subject to a substantial UXO should only proceed following the conduct of UXO investigation
and remediation.
Refer to the UXO Categorisation Criteria, Warnings and Advice and Site Information pages
at: www.defence.gov.au/UXO.
As per the general advice from the Department of Defence, to minimise the risk to human
health and the environment, the land must be further investigated to fully assess the risks of
UXO which will inform the decision as to whether remediation is required.
