Proposed Development
Attached to the e-mail PM Submission - Phillip and Kelly Paul - MCU21/0154.
RE: Application #MCU21/0154 Dear Wilhelm Koschade, We are writing in response to the recent notification we received for the proposed development of a small-scale meat processing plant on the premises of 82 Patterson Drive, Tinbeerwah. We wish to strongly object to this proposal going ahead for the following reasons: • Such a facility is not in keeping with the expected activities that should occur within a residential neighbourhood. • As a result, property values are likely to be adversely affected by the establishment of such a facility. • This facility was installed without council approval showing a disregard for the proper council planning processes and procedures. This raises the concern that the facility will not be limited to the activities specified in the current proposal. • Such a development would set a precedent for the establishment of similar facilities throughout the rest of the neighbourhood. • This neighbourhood is zoned semi-rural residential, not light industrial. • The transportation of large carcasses through the neighbourhood will detract from the beauty and feel of the neighbourhood. • Meat processing equipment is likely to increase noise levels in the vicinity to a level that is not acceptable for a residential neighbourhood. • Smell and the attraction of pests and vermin is also likely to be of concern. • Runoff water from the meat processing facility could be detrimental to the cleanliness of local water courses and as a result may negatively impact local ecosystems. A full environmental report should be obtained to address any concerns with respect to this issue. We thank you for taking the time to consider our objections and trust that in light of the extensive objections raised by the local community that this development not be given approval to go ahead. Further, due to lack of council approval for the current facility, that this facility be dismantled as soon as possible and all meat processing activities at this premises be ceased. Kind Regards, Phillip and Kelly Paul Kingsgate Drive, Tinbeerwah
