Application for secondary driveway

Dear Noosa Council,

I am writing to formally submit an application for a secondary driveway approval for my property
located at 1372 Greenridge Pinbarren Rd, Pinbarren. The main reason for this request is to address
significant safety concerns that have arisen due to the current configuration of the road and driveway.

Greenridge Pinbarren Rd, with its speed limit of 70 km per hour, poses a considerable safety risk,
particularly given the presence of a large crest in the vicinity of 1344 Greenridge Pinbarren Rd when
travelling east from Cooran towards Pomona Kin Kin Rd. On numerous occasions, I have encountered
hazardous situations while attempting to access my driveway. The need to decelerate to almost a
complete stop on a high-speed road in order to safely turn into my driveway has resulted in several
close calls, the most recent of which left me deeply shaken.

Just the other day, while returning from school with my three children in the vehicle, I indicated to turn
into my driveway approximately 30 meters prior. Unfortunately, the vehicle behind me either failed to
notice my indicator or was hindered by the sun's glare. As I turned towards my driveway, the vehicle
attempted to overtake me, narrowly avoiding a collision by veering onto the dirt verge and almost
ending up in the gully between the road and the nature strip. This alarming incident led me to make
this application and the urgent need for action to mitigate the risks associated with the current
driveway configuration.

After reviewing the current driveway configuration, I believe that the installation of a secondary
driveway along Renshaw Road would significantly enhance safety and accessibility for both myself
and other road users. I believe my property can accommodate a driveway along Renshaw road which
is a quiet no-through road with a larger bitumen shoulder that would be able to be taken with more
speed than my thin gravel driveway. Renshaw Road offers several advantages over the existing
driveway point, including a quieter environment, and reduced speed, making it a more suitable
location for ingress and egress.

I have attached a drawing outlining the proposed location of the secondary driveway in red, situated
approximately 50 meters from the intersection of Renshaw Road. The existing driveway is marked in
blue for reference.

In conclusion, I respectfully request that the council consider this application for a secondary
driveway onto my property. I firmly believe that this proposed improvement will not only enhance
safety but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I am available to provide any additional information or
clarification as needed.

Regards,

Rachel Lewis
