costly to protect remnant vegetation than planting new ones which, if successful, would take years to
establish and do the job.
Tourism and residential development has fueled the destruction of natural habitats across Noosa and much
of the Sunshine Coast—home to our beloved koala and numerous other plants and animals (eg. wallabies,
sugar gliders, native birds, frogs, reptiles, insects).
Such developments also cause socio-economic harm on local people and communities. Council’s
commissioned study on short stay accommodation (AEC, November 2022)9 noted:
“Strong demand has, however, worsened housing affordability for Noosa residents and workers.
... Noosa is experiencing considerable issues of undersupply of affordable dwellings available for
residential or worker use, with considerably higher dwelling prices and rents than in SEQ
exacerbating issues associated with rising costs of living.
...having too much short stay accommodation may significantly change the nature of the
community by reducing the sense of community in the local area due to the transient nature of
    the population.”
For the sake of Noosa residents and community – people and wildlife, please refuse the development
proposal from RACV. Council has refused RACV before, please do it again.
