Survey respondents were also asked the importance of environmental practices in their
holiday planning. They were also asked to rate their experience of environmental practices
in Noosa. On average, respondents indicated that environmental practices were important,
and their experience in Noosa’s of these were, on average, good (for encouragement of
active transport) to just below good (waste recycling opportunities, plastic free, water
conservation and renewable energy use). There were some statistical differences with these
ratings depending on the type of visitor (day tripper, overnight, longer stayer), with day
trippers being more likely to rate Noosa marginally higher on all elements than other types
of visitors, and 30-45 year olds rating Noosa marginally lower on all elements except waste
recycling.

Behaviour
Approximately 48 percent of survey respondents (n=168) indicated that the trip they were
taking was their first trip to Noosa. Proportionally, first timers were much more likely to be
international visitors than any other category. Respondents that had been to Noosa many
times before in the last 12 months were more likely to be people from other places on the
Sunshine Coast, other South East Queenslanders or people from other parts of Queensland.
There was a spread of age groups associated with first timers versus having visited Noosa on
a number of occasions in the last 12 months.
