Subject: Proposed Development- MCU15/0082 From: ros and don Date: 2015-10-05T05:27:48+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail The Chief Executive Officer Noosa Council Tewantin, QLD 4565 05 October 2015 Re: Development Permit, Application no.MCU 15/0082. Dear Sir, Cooroy-Noosa Genealogical & Historical Research Group fulfils a very unique function in the Noosa district. The Group has been able to record much valuable local knowledge in it’s publications “Pioneer Families of Cooroy and District” and “Echoes of the Past” and is still actively researching and cataloguing local history. The collection held at the Research Room, 41 Miva Street, Cooroy is open to the public where members of the Group willingly assist tourists and visitors who make enquiries. Members recognise the Miva Street room is damp and totally inadequate to house reference material and computer equipment; they have worked together over many years to raise funds for more suitable accommodation. In it’s wellbeing role the Group provides a common interest for the considerable number of residents who settle in Noosa District from many parts of Australia and Overseas. Many mature aged members have been taught by the Group to feel confident with the use of computers as well as recording and presenting their findings. I totally support the proposed development of a Heritage Centre at 17 Emerald Street, Cooroy Yours faithfully, Roslyn M Higginson email: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Phone: (07) 5448 3422
