As shown, the total retail spending market generated by the trade area population
is currently estimated at over $478 million, including $194 million from
throughout the primary sector. By 2016 these spending levels are projected to
grow to approximately $502 million and $208 million respectively.

Table 3.2 then presents a detailed break-up of the projected retail expenditure by
retail category. Spending on take-home food, packaged liquor and groceries (FLG)
is the largest category, accounting for around 45% of total retail expenditure. The
remainder of total retail expenditure includes spending on the following
     categories:

     • Food catering – all expenditure at cafes and restaurants and take-away food
stores. The combination of FLG expenditure and food catering expenditure is
referred to as total food expenditure.

     • Apparel – all expenditure on clothing, footwear, fashion accessories and
        jewellery.

     • Household goods – including all expenditure on homewares such as crockery,
cutlery, linen, as well as home appliances, electronic goods, etc.

                                                                                  Noosa Heads Bowls Club, QLD
