PRESIDENT’S REPORT Two years ago, our club was reestablished and registered with Queensland Office of Fair Trading and affiliated with Sunshine Coast Branch SLS, Queensland SLS and Australia SLS as its own legal entity of a surf lifesaving club. I acknowledge the significant contribution that the Noosa Heads SLS club gave for several seasons and the efforts of the working group in planning for the club to be able to relaunch and have the foundation to have a long-term future. The initial plan for the last two seasons has been simple basics. Focus on patrolling the beach well, have a good nipper program and be financially prudent, which we have continued to achieve. Maintaining these three points will always be important governance issues for the future. We now are aiming to build on this success through increasing our membership and improving the club facility. We have started a plan to increase membership for the whole club, from juniors, associate members and active patrolling members from the local community. On the club facility a master plan has been created. The improvements will enhance the existing building through staged works. In July we are planning to renovate the upstairs kitchen to improve the income from venue hire and for our members to enjoy social events for the lifesaving club. Thanks to all the members of the lifesaving board who as volunteers have given of their time in the belief that a lifesaving service at Peregian Beach is important. To all the members of the supporters’ committee, your management of the markets and events throughout the year is the financial backbone of the club, thank you. I look forward to seeing the club continue its improvement in the upcoming seasons. Yours in Lifesaving. John Roderick President Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club 2023-2024 Annual Report 6

ADMINISTRATION REPORT The 2023-2024 season has focused on consolidating our administration operations, continuing the strong foundations that were laid over the 2022-2023 re-launch season. Maintaining and refining membership structures and processes to ensure members services are effective and databases are accurate has been key to ensure the Club has a clear picture of where it is currently positioned and where it needs to grow to continue to effectively serve our community. I would like to acknowledge the tireless work that the club administrator, Marcella Barton, does in this space. Her commitment and dedication to excellence has seen the administration of the club become more effective and efficient this season. The Club has seen an overall increase in membership this season, especially in the Nippers realm. The Nippers program is going from strength to strength with most age groups full, with waiting lists. This season we welcomed Linda Hennessey to the administrative team. Her primary focus is on Nipper membership processes. This is a recognition of the vital role the Nippers program plays in the tapestry that is the Peregian Surf Lifesaving Club. I would like to acknowledge and thank Zane Tomlinson, Tom Britten and the Junior Activities Committee for their boundless energy and dedication to creating such a fun, engaging and inclusive Nippers program. The Club’s future is very good hands. While our membership has grown this season, this growth has not been reflected in the active 18+ category which populates the bulk of our on-beach patrols. In response, the Board embarked on an intensive recruiting program through letter box drops, social media blasts and implementing recruiting incentives. Given that patrol duties will expand next season to cover Sundays and public holidays and that patrol duties will likely expand further in the 2025-2026 season to cover Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is vital that the Club grows the active membership to meet this expansion of duties. Maintaining clear, effective and efficient lines of communication is the cornerstone of any organisation and Peregian Surf Lifesaving Club is no different. I would like to thank Stacey Hutchinson who, as Director of Communication and Events and chair of the events committee, has continued to manage the Club’s email database, monthly newsletters, social media presence and the social calendar of events at the Club. This is a massive undertaking, bringing our members together to serve our community and to enjoy each other's company. I would also like to thank Marinus Jansen who has been instrumental in the ongoing management of the Club’s website and IT processes. Volunteers have always played an extremely important role within Australian societies and it’s wonderful to see that tradition continue within our Club. I would like to acknowledge and thank the office bearers and support committees that have worked tirelessly this season to advance the Club. The supporter’s club led by Marinus Jansen has managed clubhouse hire and the Peregian Beach Markets to raise the much-needed funds to ensure the the Club’s core lifesaving responsibilities. The facilities committee led by Rob McCready, through constant consultation, has created a fantastic design for the redevelopment of the clubhouse facility that will meet the Club’s core lifesaving commitments as well provide a meeting place where our community can gather in style and comfort. The lifesaving committee, led by Club Captain Damon Faint, have put vision into action ensuring our patrols are resourced and trained to provide the best possible care on our beach I would like to particularly thank this season’s Board for their support and guidance. Your commitment to providing effective, strategic governance has placed the Club in an extremely strong position to meet the challenges of the future. I would especially like to thank outgoing Club President, John Roderick. Your leadership over the past three years has put the Club firmly on a pathway to success. LIFESAVING Again for 2023/2024 season I would like to acknowledge the efforts of all Patrolling Members, and the generous support of Brisbane Lifesaving Service, Alexandra Headland and volunteers from other local clubs including Coolum, Mooloolaba and Noosa Heads. This season we were fortunate to have Noosa, Mooloolaba and Sunshine Coast Branch train up our members in the critical award courses for IRB drivers (4) IRB crew (4) and Rescue Watercraft (5) as well as having several of our members become Silver Medallion holders (5). This is a great improvement from the previous year and will assist the club's expansion of Patrols into Sunday and public holiday patrols for 24/25 ensuring we continue to have strong volunteering numbers on the beach. I'd like to acknowledge our experienced patrol captains whom without their tireless week in, week out support, we couldn't continue our lifesaving operations. NIPPERS
Summary of Season 2023 - 2024
We have continued to grow and build from our successful 2022-2023 relaunch season as our own Club. Our aim this
season was to consolidate from last season and start to put in place the building blocks to be a long-term Nipper
program. Our key Nippers program motos to guide as are:
1. Have Fun while learning about surf water safety to stay safe in the water.
2. Work as a team to keep your mates safe.
3. If you want to, go for competition!
Key achievements:
• Lots of smiles on the Nippers faces.
• Really positive attitude by our Nippers on the beach.
• Seeing the improvement in our Nippers water safety skills.
o Our final day on the beach saw a number of Nippers out the back on boards for their first time!
Very happy Nippers and huge growth in their skill sets.
• Youth has taken off and will only continue to grow, thanks Emma Nixon!
o This was a key growth area for Junior Activities to keep our youth involved in the Club. A huge step
forward!
• We have new faces in the older age groups as well, with a strong culture of working together!
o Call out to our U13 and U14 Nipper cohort who have supported each other and the younger Nipper
groups.
Volunteers
Nippers can’t happen without our volunteers! A huge thank-you to everyone involved in helping out. Volunteer’s
roles included:
• BBQ Helpers (water safety love the free sausage!)
o Karen Luckman / Lisa Britten thank’s for all you do
• Age Managers
• Parent Liaison
• JAAO (the ones who can sign off on pool proficiency's etc)
• Water Safety:
o Nipper Adult Assistant (U6 - U8)
o Bronze/SRC holders (needed to go out beyond waist deep)
• Junior Activities Committe Role’s
Nippers does need more volunteer’s than other sports to run. An example to show this is: We have 10 U9’s Nippers
on the beach for the day. Conditions are:
• Calm day:
o Need 1* Age Manager, 1* Parent Liaison, 2 * water safety [Bronze/SRC]
o 4 volunteers for 10 nippers.
• Intermediate weather / waves
Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club 2023-2024 Annual Report 16
Page 17
o Need 1* Age Manager, 1* Parent Liaison, 3 * water safety [Bronze/SRC]
o 5 volunteers for 10 nippers.
So yes, if you can help out it is greatly appreciated. The more volunteers we have, the more time doing activities
rather than sitting on the sand waiting their turn for our Nippers.

Attendance Season 2023-24 (and looking at 2022-2023)
Our attendance continues to grow, meaning our younger year Nipper groups are full with a waitlist. And in a huge
positive, our older age groups are also growing with new recruits. Attendance remained strong over the season.
Due to the continued interest in our Nippers program, we will be formalising a waitlist approach for the 2024/25
season to help improve our communications to new families. We are putting into place some lessons learnt from
the 22/23 and 23/24 season. Key points of this approach are:
• Existing Nipper families will need to confirm they are returning in early August each year (and if they have a
new family member ie. U6).
o This is critical to give time to identify available spots for new families.
• Then new families will be contacted from the waitlist and given one (1) week to accept the offer and join
the Club.
o We have a policy around water safety to ensure fairness to everyone.
This new approach is needed to ensure we can clearly communicate to all new potential members possibility of a
place, while also leaving time for all the essentials of pool proficiency and getting the Nippers clothing. Plus time to
prepare for the new season kick-off.

Key Budget Spends
This season we wanted to start renewing our Nipper equipment. Our goal is to have a rolling program of replacing
some stock each year. Key expenditure included:
• 15 new Phantom Boogie Boards [huge thanks to Noosa Surf Outlet]
o Keeping our U 6 to U9 Nippers having fun
o We will replace more boogie boards in the 25/26 season
• 10 new Nipper Foamies (6’6”) [RaceOne gave a great special]
o We plan to replace ~10 boards a year.
o Great to see the Nippers out the back on our new foamies
• 4 new fibreglass Nipper competition boards
o To help out our Nipper who want to compete, already put to use
• 4 new fibreglass Youth boards
o our Youth desperately needed some more boards their size.
o A great reception already!
• 10 * Rescue Tubes
o We kept running short as so many water safety helping out (best problem ever to have).
• Volunteer Clothing:
o Water Safety Rashies + Caps
o Age Manager Rashies
o Nipper Adult Assistant Rashies
o Polo Shirts for Parent Liaisons and Age Managers
• Nipper BBQ Fridge and BBQ
• Subsidized events:
o Part cost of the Nipper Aqua Park entry covered + Food
o Twilight Event covered.
Approximate Spends:
• Boards + tubes = $13 000 + $7000 (Youth BOARDS)
• Clothing for Volunteers = ~ $2500
Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving Club 2023-2024 Annual Report 18
Page 19
• BBQ new Friday + BBQ = $1600 ?? (fridge was $630)
• Subsidise Twilight and Nipper break-up events ~ $6500 (approximate guess by me)
• Insurance Charge for our Nippers = KAne – Do you know what we pay?
Special thanks to suppliers who made possible above buys, with special pricing for Nippers:
• Noosa Outlet Surf
• Race One Surf Craft

EVENTS REPORT Together with the Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Supporters Club, we have hosted and run a variety of events for both PBSLSC members and the wider community. We kicked off the season with our Back to Beach Club Season kick-off event and followed this up with member’s nights, club choirs, a comedy night, a Joe Cocker Experience night and our end of season Presentation Night. All these events have been well received, and it has been lovely to see Peregian community returning to our club and support us. Once the new kitchen and bar area have been upgraded, we look forward to being able to extend our events calendar.
