PEREGIAN BEACH SURF LIFESAVING CLUB - FUNDING REQUEST AND UPDATE ON OPERATIONS · Attachment 1 - PBSLSC 2023-2024 Annual Report
ADMINISTRATION REPORT The 2023-2024 season has focused on consolidating our administration operations, continuing the strong foundations that were laid over the 2022-2023 re-launch season. Maintaining and refining membership structures and processes to ensure members services are effective and databases are accurate has been key to ensure the Club has a clear picture of where it is currently positioned and where it needs to grow to continue to effectively serve our community. I would like to acknowledge the tireless work that the club administrator, Marcella Barton, does in this space. Her commitment and dedication to excellence has seen the administration of the club become more effective and efficient this season. The Club has seen an overall increase in membership this season, especially in the Nippers realm. The Nippers program is going from strength to strength with most age groups full, with waiting lists. This season we welcomed Linda Hennessey to the administrative team. Her primary focus is on Nipper membership processes. This is a recognition of the vital role the Nippers program plays in the tapestry that is the Peregian Surf Lifesaving Club. I would like to acknowledge and thank Zane Tomlinson, Tom Britten and the Junior Activities Committee for their boundless energy and dedication to creating such a fun, engaging and inclusive Nippers program. The Club’s future is very good hands. While our membership has grown this season, this growth has not been reflected in the active 18+ category which populates the bulk of our on-beach patrols. In response, the Board embarked on an intensive recruiting program through letter box drops, social media blasts and implementing recruiting incentives. Given that patrol duties will expand next season to cover Sundays and public holidays and that patrol duties will likely expand further in the 2025-2026 season to cover Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it is vital that the Club grows the active membership to meet this expansion of duties. Maintaining clear, effective and efficient lines of communication is the cornerstone of any organisation and Peregian Surf Lifesaving Club is no different. I would like to thank Stacey Hutchinson who, as Director of Communication and Events and chair of the events committee, has continued to manage the Club’s email database, monthly newsletters, social media presence and the social calendar of events at the Club. This is a massive undertaking, bringing our members together to serve our community and to enjoy each other's company. I would also like to thank Marinus Jansen who has been instrumental in the ongoing management of the Club’s website and IT processes. Volunteers have always played an extremely important role within Australian societies and it’s wonderful to see that tradition continue within our Club. I would like to acknowledge and thank the office bearers and support committees that have worked tirelessly this season to advance the Club. The supporter’s club led by Marinus Jansen has managed clubhouse hire and the Peregian Beach Markets to raise the much-needed funds to ensure the the Club’s core lifesaving responsibilities. The facilities committee led by Rob McCready, through constant consultation, has created a fantastic design for the redevelopment of the clubhouse facility that will meet the Club’s core lifesaving commitments as well provide a meeting place where our community can gather in style and comfort. The lifesaving committee, led by Club Captain Damon Faint, have put vision into action ensuring our patrols are resourced and trained to provide the best possible care on our beach I would like to particularly thank this season’s Board for their support and guidance. Your commitment to providing effective, strategic governance has placed the Club in an extremely strong position to meet the challenges of the future. I would especially like to thank outgoing Club President, John Roderick. Your leadership over the past three years has put the Club firmly on a pathway to success.
