We write in support of the planning application before Council to
establish an RV stop in Cooroy.

 

To our knowledge the only commercial caravan park in the area is the Big
4 Noosa Bougainvillea on the corner of Beckman's Road and the Cooroy-
Tewantin Road and a RV park in Cooroy would not seem to be competition
for this. 

 

As  RVers presently tend to stay on the Bruce Highway and bypass the
town, a Cooroy RV stop would provide an increase in business to the
retailers in the town as it is a fact proven in many RV club surveys
that they purchase locally such things as fuel, groceries and
provisions, dining out, and generally support the area in which they are
staying.

 

Should approval be given, it would be desirable that conditions be
imposed for availability of potable water as the only supply of which we
are aware is in Apex Park. Also a toilet dump point is an essential
requirement as there is nowhere in the area to dump- the Big 4 is listed
in some places as having a dump point but when we were staying in the
area recently, they advised us that the dump point was only available
for their patrons and casuals could not use, even on a paying basis.

 

We urge Council's support of this application as this amenity would be
an asset to the town and the travelling public as well as providing
funds for local sporting clubs.
