SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 AUGUST 2021
Previous Council Consideration
Nil.
Finance
Preliminary 2020/21 figures indicate a saving of $881,000 on materials and services across
Infrastructure Services’ operational budget.
While a conservative approach to expenditure was adopted across the department in case of further
COVID impacts, an influx of grant funding and focus on delivering capital projects, as well as staff
resourcing resulted in delays in the delivery of some operational items.
Risks & Opportunities
The major risks facing the department include:
managing workload pressures;
increased cost and reduced availability of equipment and materials due to the influx of COVID-
19 stimulus funding which will impact both capital and operational activities;
decreased availability of contractors; and
retaining staff during a peak construction period.
The main opportunities the department is implementing include:
better up-front planning for project planning, design and delivery;
collection of asset data for improved asset management; and
improved planning for operational activities.
