Cash Management and Investment Performance

Total cash on hand at the end of September was $82 million. Included in this balance are funds
held in trust and for restricted purposes (e.g. unexpended levy and grant funds).

At the start of the month, the majority of cash was held in Council’s CBA working accounts
following receipt of July rates and ready for investment. Council viewed and refined the approach
to investment in line with the Investment Policy’s principles of maximising return, minimising risk,
ensuring appropriate liquidity and adherence to ethical investing principles. Consequently, $31
million was invested during September across a range of institutions including QTC ($15 million),
Westpac ($8 million) and NAB ($8 million).
