Noosa Civic Expansion
28 Eenie Creek Road, Noosaville and parts of the road reserves of Hofmann Drive and Walter Hay Drive
For example, a high quality and extensive retail offer, supported by public transport infrastructure,
attracts commercial development, which provides retail amenity to the office population. In
return, residential and office development generates daytime and permanent populations and
demand for retail goods and services.
It is significant that the core of every major city’s central business district is retail. Equally all major
masterplanned town centres in Australia have commenced development with a major retail
component. Robina is a classic case study. When Robina Town Centre opened in 1996 it was
primarily a shopping centre. Over the last 19 years the range of land uses within the centre has
diversified and now includes approximately 75,000m2 of commercial office floor space, as well
as showrooms, bulky goods outlets, medical and entertainment facilities.
For further discussion of retail as a catalyst for future diversified development on the site, please
refer to Appendix B – Retail Needs Response.
