SRI CRITERIA SIGNIFICANT NOT LIKELY NOTES
TO BE
SIGNIFICANT
ANIMALS - Protected wildlife habitat (koala habitat under the Koala SPRP) (Section 3.1.1 of SRI Guideline,
DSDIP, 2014)
An action is LIKELY to have an SRI on core koala habitat if the action will result in:
Clearing of 1.02ha remnant vegetation that
contains approximately 500 non-juvenile
Koala habitat trees on Lot 77 does meet
(a)clearing of a non-juvenile Koala habitat the criteria for this SRI, however mitigation
tree of impacts through rehabilitation works
√
onsite and a dedicated Koala Tree planting
(See Section 5.4) is considered likely to
reduce the significance of the activity,
averting the need for a MSES imposed
Offset.
The action of clearing Koala habitat is LIKELY to have a SRI on protected wildlife habitat, and an offset may be
required unless mitigation is undertaken through rehabilitation works.
5.2 SRI criteria under the Environmental Offsets Policy
The Queensland Environmental Offsets Policy Significant Residual Impact Guideline (DEHP,
2014) assessment of criteria is detailed below in Sections 5.2.1 to 5.2.4.
5.2.1 Criteria – Regulated Vegetation
The Queensland Environmental Offsets Policy Significant Residual Impact Guideline (DEHP,
2014) criteria for impacted remnant vegetation on site is detailed in section 2.1 of the guideline
and is assessed for the site in Table 6.
Section 2 of the SRI Guidelines (DEHP, 2014) states:
Regulated vegetation is a ‘prescribed regional ecosystem’ that:
• is an endangered or of concern regional ecosystem, as defined under the
Vegetation Management Act 1999 (VMA); or
• intersects with an area shown on the vegetation management wetlands map, as
defined under the VMA 1999, or
• is located within the defined distance from the defining banks of a watercourse
identified on the vegetation management watercourse map, as defined under the
VMA 1999.
For the significant residual impact test Endangered Regional Ecosystem 12.5.3 (Eucalyptus
tereticornis, Corymbia intermedia, E. crebra +/- Lophostemon suaveolens woodland on
Mesozoic to Proterozoic igneous rocks) is categorised as having a ‘sparse’ structure. It is
found that the proposed clearing is not likely to be an SRI on a Regional Ecosystem
(Endangered or Of concern) as shown in Table 6 below.
