REPORT
A review of minor parking offence penalties benchmarked against Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast,
Fraser, Redland and Moreton Bay local governments has shown that Noosa Council’s penalty units
for similar offences are generally lower than those of other Councils (see Table 1).

To align with neighbouring local governments and improve regulatory effectiveness, Noosa Council
proposes to increase the penalty units for relevant offences. The resulting increase in the amount of
the infringement issued, will act to discourage overstays, helping to alleviate congestion and improve
parking availability in high demand areas.
