Hi, I am writing an objection letter for the above application on 34 Elm St Cooroy for a proposed carwash on this site, if this could please be sent to Mayor Clare Stewart also as I really am so sentimental about how this will affect the whole feel of the Cooroy township. When I look at the plans and read the documents for this application all I see is red flags for this particular site. I am a 3rd generation Cooroy girl and I love this little buzzing hinterland town which is growing rapidly. I feel that building a car wash and not just a little car wash a HUGE car wash on this main drag into town will only create choes in this area, excess traffic down the residential streets, school children and travelers dodging waiting traffic as it can take 30 min plus to wash a car. Noise, bright lights, fumes, rubbish, late night hoons hanging around cleaning their cars so much to consider for the families that live in very close range of the car wash site like me. I also wonder if people playing a game of bowls or eating a meal at the Bowlsy will appreciate the beeping, vacuuming and water spray noises that are associated with a car wash while they are trying to relax. We need to have something that fits in with the relaxed family atmosphere that the Bowlsy has created in this area. I believe that a car wash would do well in Cooroy, yes, BUT in an appropriate location, like industrial and plenty of industrial land is located around Cooroy, Holts Rd for example, which is straight off the Bruce Highway and can be easily spotted by motorist with the correct signage put in place, this seems like the ideal location and also there is an RV stop out along Holts Rd, perfect for the campers and caravanners passing through wanting to wash cars and dogs, a great space for business owners who have many cars that need washing or young drivers who hang out in groups to wash their cars. Lower Mill Road is another suitable site for a HUGE car wash, and I do believe the people who put the application in own land in this particular area also. Cooroy lacks accommodation, this site once had a Motel which was only demolished in recent years and I believe this would be the most suitable thing to put back here, close to our gorgeous little train station and a bus stop straight out the front, walking distance to eating venues and nice quiet streets to stroll in on dusk before dinner. Imagine the feel when driving into Cooroy and seeing a lovely Motel to stay in rather than driving in and seeing a HUGE noisy congested car wash. I am so strongly against the car wash on this site it hurts. Please take in consideration the effects this will have on the look of our little hinterland town when driving in, we need to hold onto that little country town feel and look because that is what makes it so easy to live here. I do hope you understand my thoughts that this site just isn't the right place for a HUGE busy car wash in little downtown Cooroy.
