RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Community Development Manager to the Services &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 6 October 2020 regarding recommended Round 1 2020-
21 Community Project Grants and agree that the entire Community Project Grants budget
allocation will be distributed early in the 2020/21 financial year due to the community need.
REPORT
The purpose of this report is to provide background information and an overview of the Round 1
2020-21 Community Project Grants. These grant recommendations are being presented to Council
for its consideration and endorsement at the October 2020 round of meetings. The report also
proposes allocating the whole of the 20/21 grant funds through this one round of applications.
Four reports are being presented to Council for this round of Community Project Grants. They are:
2020-21 Round 1 Community Project Grant
Programs $20,200.00
Events $11,000.00
Equipment $80,020.92
Infrastructure $114,750.36
Total $225,971.28
Background
The initial 2020/2021 round for both Community and Environment Project Grants was advertised
in local media, e-newsletters and through community networks with a closing date of 25 March
2020. Due to changing priorities resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Community Project
Grant process was paused but the Environment Project Grant process continued.
During April, following consultation with the not-for-profit sector and response to the immediate
needs a new grant program was devised. Subsequently, the Disaster Resilience and Recovery
Grant (DRRG) was approved by Council in May 2020. From 22 May to 5 June applications were
received and the outcome was reported to Council in the July 2020 Council meeting.
