It has come to my attention that the construction of The Calile Hotel
at Serenity Cove may have a significant impact on some nearby streets. | understand that there is speculation that the *; ee
closed portion of Banksia Avenue may be opened during the construction of the hotel resulting in reconnection between the
\sections of Banksia Avenue and increasing the amount of local traffic along with construction traffic through these streets, Jan
Street and Coral tree Avenue.

‘The closure of Banksia Avenue was implemented many years ago to prevent a “rat run” and to promote optimal safety in the local |
area. If Banksia Avenue is reopened, the safety of pedestrians (local residents, visiting tourists), local traffic and small ate OM
commercial trucks/vans would be greatly compromised. I therefore strongly object to the opening of Banksia Avenue at any stage |
including during the construction phase or after completion of the hotel. It is my belief that through traffic, including heavy pase}
| construction vehicles over a number of years will cause significant disruption, disturbance and potential danger. The comer
| where Jan Street and Coral Tree Avenue join is of particular concern as I have witnessed numerous near misses as vehicles =a |
negotiate the sharp bend. In addition to the safety issues there is also the concern of significant heavy vehicle brake noise on the

steep hills where Banksia Avenue North and South meet, and also the high risk of a temporary opening of the street during the ea
construction phase resulting in a permanent thoroughfare.
