INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 AUGUST 2014

In addition, our Governance branch has established a legislation amendment alert system which
will allow them to advise relevant branch managers of any relevant legislative changes which
might impact on local laws. This will ensure Council’s local laws are of the highest standard and

Finance & Risk

The process of developing a new suite of local laws will be funded through the operational
budget of the Executive Office.

The risk to the organisation of not having a rigorous and transparent process for making local
laws is that the local laws which are often called upon in court proceedings may be illegal or not
reflect their original purpose and intent.

Additionally, by seeking feedback from the community as a means of identifying issues requiring
regulation Council’s performance in this area can be better measured and improved.
