Cores 20" February 2014 Boccaccio Nominees Pty Ltd & B D’Anna 1030 Burke Rd, BALWYN VIC 3103 Dear Sir/Madam Notification of Proposed NBN_Telecommunications Facility Installation at _Boreen Point MCU13/0053 — Located at 153 Lake Flat Road, Boreen Point (Lot 2 on RP126723) In October, NBN Co advised they had lodged a Development Application with Sunshine Coast Regional Council for a Fixed Wireless network facility at the southern end of the 106 ha property at 153 Lake Flat Road, Boreen Point. We also invited local residents to attend a Community Information Session on 24 October 2013 to find out more about the proposed facility, and the NBN Fixed Wireless broadband service for Boreen Point. Following this informal consultation with the community, we are pleased to advise that Formal Public Notification in accordance with s297 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 has now commenced for the proposed facility at Boreen Point (MCU13/0053) (Development Application at the southern end of 153 Lake Flat Road). About the NBN The National Broadband Network (NBN) is an upgrade to Australia’s existing telecommunications network. It is designed to provide Australians with access to fast, affordable and reliable internet services, as quickly and as cost effectively as possible. NBN Co plans to upgrade the current telecommunications network in the most cost-efficient way using best-fit technology and taking into account existing infrastructure. This will vary from place to place and will include technologies such as Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Premises, fixed wireless and satellite. Use of fixed wireless and satellite technologies is expected to result in significant improvements compared to services currently available to many Australians living in regional and remote communities. As part of the fixed wireless component of the network, NBN Co is proposing to establish a series of fixed wireless facilities which are designed to provide fast and reliable wireless broadband services to Australians living in regional and remote areas, including the Noosa Council area. While NBN Co’s fixed wireless service is not a mobile service, it will use cellular technology to transmit signals to.and from a small antenna fixed on the outside of a home or business, which is pointed directly towards the fixed wireless facility. NBN Co is designing each fixed wireless facility to serve a set number of premises, which should enable consistency in the speed and quality of services that can be delivered to each home and business receiving the fixed wireless service. About the Infrastructure Proposed for Boreen Point At Boreen Point, NBN Co proposes to construct two new facilities to service the Boreen Point and Cootharaba areas (approximately 1.15 km apart). We are proposing two facilities because a single facility will not be able to provide service to both the village on the lake and the scattered rural residential houses to the north and north west of the village. : : The Boreen Point facility (the subject of this application MCU13/0053) is designed to provide a service to anKArAN
