Application Number MCU22/0118 Application Type Material Change of Use Category Impact Description Short-term accommodation Details 94 & 142 Noosa Drive Noosa Heads - Short Term Accommodation (16 Eco Cabins) & Swimming Pool - Royal Automobile Clue of Victria (RACV) Ltd - Adamson Town Planning Pty Ltd Submitted Date 28/06/2022 Stage/Decision Notification Stage Officer PMURPHY As the councils own Noosa Short Stay AEC report has now demonstrated, Noosa has become saturated with Short Stay Accommodation. The detriment to community, business and environment has been evidenced in this report. “There is a compelling economic and social argument for this proposal given the identified constraints placed on the local economy and community from a lack of available and affordable housing for residents and workers. Securing future housing supply within these zones – in addition to LDR zones – for residents and workers (versus short stay accommodation) will ease some of the pressures that presently exist. Without further action, it is unlikely that the identified imbalance in the housing stock will be appropriately addressed and the economy and community will continue to be constrained.” This lot of land is also a known Koala habitat, reduction in their habit will mean reduction in Koala numbers. I would ask all council staff and Councillors to remember the below promises made by Mayor Stewart when voting on this development application. “I will work to protect and enhance our magnificent environment which is so important to our future and our livelihoods.” “I will protect the Noosa lifestyle we all love, through community engagement, real consultation, and honest, transparent leadership.” Yours sincerely Christine Doonam
