GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 16 MARCH 2020
Risks & Opportunities
There are no legal implications associated with the consideration of this matter. Staffing
implications cannot be determined until the program of works has been identified.
Governance requirements of the Commonwealth Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements
includes the public acknowledgements of Commonwealth assistance under the Section 5.2 of the
Commonwealth Guidelines of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements 2018.
This $1,275,000 funding provides a significant opportunity to support the recovery of the Noosa
community following the 2019 bushfires. It allows Council to remedy physical infrastructure and
environmental damage as well as support the ongoing human social recovery.
As there were approximately 400 ideas put forward for consideration during the consultation
process it is not possible that everyone’s idea will be included in the funded projects. There is
therefore a risk that some residents and key stakeholders may be disappointed with the outcome.
