Thank you for your letter of 16 August 2023 to the Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe MP, Minister for
Tourism, Innovation and Sport and Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics
Sport and Engagement regarding the planned Noosa Springs Boutique Hotel. The Minister has
asked that I respond on his behalf.

Growth of Queensland’s tourism industry remains a priority for the Queensland Government,
particularly as we move closer to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Queensland
Government’s Towards Tourism 2032 (TT32) tourism industry strategy articulates the vision that
by 2032, Queensland will be Australia’s leading destination of choice for domestic and global
visitors seeking transformational travel experiences.

I note research to-date has identified an undersupply of branded hotels across the regions, and
highlighted the positive contribution proposals such as the Noosa Springs Boutique Hotel could
make to the regional economy through increased local employment, visitor expenditure and local
supply chain opportunities.

This market opportunity for new developments, such as Noosa Springs, aligns with the
Government’s TT32 10 Tourism Game Changers – namely ‘places to stay’ that position the state
and region as a desirable and globally competitive destination.

I am aware you have been working with representatives from the Department of Tourism,
Innovation and Sport (DTIS) who remain supportive of private investment in tourism infrastructure
across Queensland’s key tourism sectors. I encourage you to continue your work with DTIS.
