      BACKGROUND
      This submission has been prepared by the Committee (Committee) of Noosa Junction Association
      Incorporated (NJA) in response to an invitation by Noosa Council (Council) for comments from the
      public to the above MCU Application (Application) made by Calile Malouf Investments Pty Ltd as
      Trustee (Applicant) in respect of land at 3 and 7 Serenity Close, Noosa heads.

      NJA is incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) with members which own land
      or conduct businesses in Noosa Junction. Its objectives include:
      •       promoting economic, environmental and social sustainability in Noosa Junction
      •       supporting sustainable growth and development in Noosa Junction
      •       encouraging residents and visitors to visit Noosa Junction for their goods and services
      •       liaising with Council and others to further these objectives


      SUBMISSION
      The Committee has reviewed the plans and material pertaining to the Application lodged with Council on
      behalf of the Applicant. The Committee is of the view that, upon completion, the proposed development
      will greatly assist NJA in meeting its aforementioned objectives. Other factors in its favour are that it:

      1.      Will provide employment opportunities during and after the construction period.

      2.      Aligns with the Noosa tourism brand and will provide a standard of visitor accommodation
              currently unavailable.
      Accordingly, NJA is supportive of Council approving the Application.

      Whilst it appears the proposed ferry does not form part of the Application, the Committee feels this
      method of transporting guests of Calile Noosa to and from Hastings Street is innovative and worthy of
      investigation.
