SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA 13 OCTOBER 2017
Yurol State Forest - summary of values
Yurol State Forest currently contains many significant natural values (Fig. 3). Endangered or Of
Concer regional ecosystems make up most of the remnant vegetation in this state forest (342 of 610
hectares), and 4 Endangered or Of Concern Regional Ecosystems are represented.
Seventeen threatened species, including the koala, have been recorded in or near Yurol State Forest,
and five of these species are endemic to the South East Queensland Bioregion. Large areas of koala
habitat are present.
The aquatic habitat values of this state forest are also highly significant, with 100% of the area
supporting High or Very High Riverine wetland values. Six Mile Creek is a special feature of
conservation significance.
Parts of the area function as biodiversity corridors of regional and State significance.
