west of Caboolture and near Jimboomba, south of Logan. Additional areas are nominated for
future investigation. These include a site south of Aura in the Halls Creek catchment of
Pumicestone Passage and two sites north of Caboolture. All three are intrusions of development
into the current inter-urban break between Sunshine Coast and the greater metropolitan sub-
region to the south. The plan nevertheless proposes negotiations between the Queensland
Government, Moreton Bay Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council to strengthen
the long term future of the inter-urban break.
Key population projections at 2041 are –
   Brisbane – 1.57m
   Moreton Bay – 655,000
   Sunshine Coast – 495,000
   Noosa – 63,000
Implementation continues to rely on mapping of Urban Footprints, Rural Living Areas and
Regional Landscape and Rural Production Areas. The plan continues with regulatory approaches
towards prohibiting urban development outside the Urban Footprint and restricting subdivision in
the rural areas to a minimum lot size of 100 hectares.
Urban Footprint principles are set out and one of these stipulates the increasing capacity in
existing Urban Footprints is a priority over any expansion.
Each theme has elements and strategies and examples of these for the regional economy and
affordable living are copied below.
