Finance
All options proposed within the Noosa Spit SEMP were evaluated for a whole of life cost over a
duration of 20 years, which included any upfront or ongoing costs. The proposed nourishment
option has been costed based on renourishment occurring every seven years, with the total
expenditure in the first year anticipated to be approximately $1.2 million. This cost is inclusive of
all required permits, nourishment, project management, project contingency and monitoring. The
complementary activities (section 3) have not been included in this estimate as they are either
considered business as usual activities, or in the case of revegetation, should be implemented
once the success of the major works has been established.
It is proposed that the project will submitted for consideration in the capital works program for the
2020/21 budget.
Figure 3 below presents a graph of proposed costs over the 20-year lifecycle.
