1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND C&B Group has been engaged to complete the Fauna Management Plan for land at Serenity Close, Noosa Heads (Figure 1). The land is described as Lots 3 and 4 on SP 100064 and is known as “Settlers Cove”. An aerial photograph is provided in Figure 2. The Fauna Management Plan is required as a development approval consent condition for the Material Change of Use of premises and Lot Reconfiguration for Residential Single Dwelling (RSD) lots (DA 23116) and Lot Reconfiguration for Residential High Density (RHD) development (DA 23118) (Noosa Shire Council 2004a & 2004b). This Fauna Management Plan is generally in accordance with the Draft Fauna Management Plan prepared by JWA dated May 2003 (conditions RHD 50 & RHD 51). The current Fauna Management Plan includes material from the JWA draft report and addresses additional approval conditions from Council and issues discussed in the Conservation Land deed (ie. RF Thompson Environmental Park). The approval conditions refer to the “Vegetation Clearing Plan” (Figure 3) and “Habitat and Connections” (Environment Science & Service, 2003) (Figure 4). These figures have been amended following consultations with Council. These amendments are depicted in subsequent figures. The Settlers Cove “Master Plan” (with approved amendments) is presented in Figure 5. Although the approval conditions are individually detailed for the Residential Single Dwelling and Residential High Density areas - management of fauna is considered at an overall site level in this Fauna Management Plan. A summary of the specific conditions of approval (Noosa Shire Council 2004) relating to fauna are attached in Annexure 1 and predominantly relate to koalas, glossy black-cockatoos and wallum froglets. Management measures for the site, although targeting significant fauna, also accommodate common fauna. 1,2 SITE DESCRIPTION The Settler’s Cove site is approximately 36ha in area and is located in Noosa Heads (Parish of Weyba). The site is bounded to the north and west by Weyba Creek and Noosa Inlet; to the east by Banksia Avenue and Noosa Drive; and to the south by private development (Noosa Sanctuary). The site is generally well vegetated and consists largely of floodplain and elevated old Pleistocene dunal systems. The two main dunes rise to approximately 25m and are located in the north-east and south-east of the site. FAUNA MANAGEMENT PLANSETTLER’S COVE DEVELOPMENT PTY LTD MAY 2005 R79130 (70934) C&B GROUP
