Ecological Assessment Report
3 - 7 Serenity Close, Noosa Heads
MSES Relevance
Queensland. Of relevance to the site is the
potential presence of threatened 4 wildlife (plant or
animal) species.
Relevant mapping indicates that the site
contained:
• MSES wildlife habitat [endangered or
vulnerable] (Figure 7)
• MSES wildlife habitat [special least concern]
(Figure 7)
• MSES wildlife habitat [SEQ koala habitat - core]
(Figure 8)
In addition, a search was undertaken to identify
threatened wildlife that may occur, are likely to
occur or are known to occur within 3 km of the
site. A search of the Queensland Department of
Environment and Science (DES) Wildlife Online
database (Department of Environment and
Science 2023) was undertaken for species
recorded within a 3 km radius of the site since
1980 (Appendix 3).
The State Development Assessment Provisions
(SDAP) provide assessment benchmarks for the
assessment of development applications involving
the State Assessment and Referral Agency
(SARA). State Code 25 is the relevant part of the
SDAP which applies to development in South East
Queensland Koala Habitat Areas. Given the
changed development is consistent with the
original development approval, the relevant
considerations arising from the change to the
koala regulations in the Planning Regulation 2017
are not engaged.
Waterways that provide for fish passage under the Relevant fisheries resource mapping indicates that
Fisheries Act 1994 (excluding waterways providing the site contains a ‘moderate’ risk of impact
for fish passage in an urban area) waterway for waterway barrier works (Figure 9).
Any future operational works that result in a
waterway barrier may require a referral to the
State.
High risk area on the flora survey trigger as described The NC Act includes a risk-based approach to the
by the Environmental Offsets Regulation 2014 management of protected plants. Where an area
proposed to be cleared contains native plants in
the wild and the area is shown as high risk area on
4
Extinct in the Wild (EX), Endangered (E), Vulnerable (V) or Near threatened (NT) wildlife pursuant to the
Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation 2006 (Qld) (NC Reg.).
