EMP – CONSTRUCTION PHASE 4-3
4.2 Element C.2: Vegetation Protection and
Management
Policy: To effectively manage and control clearing operations within construction areas.
To protect all individual trees or stands of vegetation in construction areas designated
for protection during clearing, development and building works.
To prevent impact on all areas of vegetation in adjacent POSCWP areas, Park and RF
Thompson Environmental Park during clearing, development and building works
(refer Figure 1.1)(mainly Conditions 56-61, Council Vegetation Protection Policy).
Strategy: To identify and protect vegetation that is to be retained and manage clearing of
other areas in an environmentally sensitive manner.
Responsibility: Principal Contractor Site Environmental Officer and Wildlife Ecologist (primary
responsibility –refer Appendix A) and other as indicated.
Management Actions: The Vegetation Retention and Clearing Strategy (presented below and also
attached in Appendix C) provides the overall direction to the strategies to be employed for vegetation
protection and clearing within both the RHD and RSL areas. Compliance with this strategy is critical
to overall compliance of the project with environmental standards and safeguards to be employed and
the Council conditions of approval.

General Considerations
Key management measures for clearing of building envelope areas are indicated on Tate Professional
Engineers design drawings VM1 and VM2. The Principal Contractor is to ensure that the latest
drawing applicable to site works is being used and is to liaise with the Superintendent in this regard.
The Principal Contractor’s works shall be limited to the following fenced areas as indicated on Tate
Professional Engineers drawings as above and Ken Hicks & Associates drawing 1128 Master Plan.
• RHD building envelope;
• RSL building envelope;
• Road reserve landscaped;
• Road reserve constructed road; and
• Service corridors within Park and Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterways
Protection (POSCWP) areas.
All activities in areas adjacent to the POSCWP, Park and RF Thompson Environmental Park and
Road Reserve Bushland are to be carried out in such a manner as to avoid any damage to the retained
vegetation. Areas of protected vegetation will be clearly identified (see below).
The Site Environmental Officer (SEO) is to supervise clearing and other activities in the areas adjacent
