The following strategy has been prepared to provide guidance and direction to all personnel
involved in the retention and clearing of vegetation from both the Residential High Density
(RHD) and Residential Single Lot (RSL) areas of the Settlers Cove site. This information has
been prepared following a review of information presented in the Landscape Master Plan, the
Ecological Restoration Plan, the Fauna Management Plan and the two Environmental
Management Plans (EMP 1 and 2) prepared for the development. Elements C2 and C3 of EMP
1 and 2 provide monitoring, reporting and compliance requirements for the RHD and RSL
areas. These documents should be referred to should greater detail be required.
General Considerations
Key management measures for clearing of building envelope areas are indicated on Tate
Professional Engineers design drawings VM1 and VM2. The Principal Contractor is to ensure
that the latest drawing applicable to site works is being used and is to liaise with the
Superintendent in this regard. The Principal Contractor’s works shall be limited to the following
fenced areas as indicated on Tate Professional Engineers drawings as above and Ken Hicks &
Associates drawing 1128 Master Plan.
• RHD building envelope;
• RSL building envelope;
• Road reserve landscaped;
• Road reserve constructed road; and
• Service corridors within Park and Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterways
Protection (POSCWP) areas.
All activities in areas adjacent to the POSCWP, Park and RF Thompson Environmental Park
and Road Reserve Bushland are to be carried out in such a manner as to avoid any damage to
the retained vegetation. Areas of protected vegetation will be clearly identified (see below).
The Site Environmental Officer (SEO) is to supervise clearing and other activities in the areas
adjacent to protected vegetation and any other significant areas to be retained. The SEO will be
responsible for implementation of this strategy and informing all relevant personnel involved in
the development of the project of the location of significant areas for retention and appropriate
activities adjacent to these areas prior to and during any clearing operations.
Any damage to designated protected areas is to be rectified including the reinstatement of
vegetation to resemble natural bushland in accordance with the Ecological Restoration Plan.
Pre-clearing Activities
Prior to the commencement of the pre-start meeting, the following procedures shall be carried
out:
1. Allotment boundaries and roadway centre lines shall initially be staked by a registered
surveyor.
