SETTLERS COVE NOOSA Landscape Master Plan 19. BUSHFIRE PREVENTION Bushfire prevention over the Settlers Cove site is addressed in the Fire Management Plan and that document should be studied for further detail. Major components for bushfire prevention include a system of 5m wide fire breaks that are designed into the Residential Single Lot and Residential High Density areas of the site. In addition the Fire Management Plan outlines other important features such as 3m wide fuel control areas between buildings and areas of native vegetation and fuel reduction strategies to be carried out. Components of clearing works and landscape works proposed will include a variety actions and elements to minimize bushfire hazard potential within Building Envelopes of the Residential Single Lots and Residential High Density. The points below outline and expand on some of these: e As part of the selective clearing works proposed for the building envelopes fuel loads shall be reduced to minimise bushfire hazard where vegetation is to be retained. e Local native species known for their fire retardant characteristics (refer to Primary Native species list - section 8.4) will be strategically incorporated into the landscape in the High Density Residential Lots and suggested for use in the Residential Single Lots. ¢ Bushfire information kits and Caring for your Bushland Guidelines are to be provided to Single Residential Lot owners. e Bushfire information kits will be provided to the Body Corporate Managers of each High Density Residential lot by the applicant. The Body Corporate Managers will incorporate the Bushfire information kits as part of the Community Management Statements for each lot.. e The landscape design and construction will incorporate materials where possible to minimise bushfire risk. e Incorporation of rainwater harvesting tanks into the Single Residential Lots and High Density Lots is recommended for irrigation to apply to vegetation thus making the vegetation less fire prone. ¢ Design of watering systems in the High Density Residential developments shall consider opportunities to promote bushfire prevention. ¢ Areticulated water tap shall be located at the Single Residential Lot Building Envelopes (Lots 1-12 & 15-24) rear boundary that abut Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterway Protection to assist in wetting areas incase of fire. e A fire hydrant is to be located in each of the High Density Residential Lots adjacent to Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterway Protection.
