SETTLERS COVE NOOSA Landscape Master Plan Provision for Koala movement is also addressed in the Residential Single Lots area of Settlers Cove Development. The points below demonstrate how this will be achieved: e The acoustic fence is required to be a solid structure from ground level to 2m. in height that does not deviate from the boundary line. To allow Koala movement climbing poles are to be erected at regular intervals along the fence. Refer to Residential Single Lots — Noise Barrier (section 16) for further details. e Separating Single Residential Lot Building Envelopes from “Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterway Protection” is an approved fence. This fence is initially to be constructed to be Koala friendly and will also facilitate movement of other fauna. Refer to Residential Single Lots for Conservation and Waterway Protection section. All other fencing through “Private Open Space and Waterway Protection” will be fauna friendly. 22.2 Glossy Black Cockatoos The Glossy Black Cockatoo feeds on the Allocasuarina littoralis at Settlers Cove. This species, both singularly and in clumps shall form part of the future landscape. This shall . be achieved through the retention of suitably viable Black She- oaks and introducing additional feed and habitat plants into appropriate areas of the developable area. * One of the areas suitable in the High Density Residential component of the Settlers . Cove development is the buffer areas between buildings and Road Reserve and extending into sections of the Road Reserve. Priority shall be given to the Glossy Black Cockatoos in respect to species selection for planting in these locations. Habitat/nesting boxes will be installed in appropriate locations (High Density Residential Lots - Private Open Space for Conservation and Waterways Protection areas only) and of suitable dimensions for the target species and other fauna likely as described in the Fauna Management Plans. 23.3 Other fauna Natural wetlands below the developable areas depend on low nutrient acid environments that can be altered by inappropriate activities in the developed areas above. The Wallum Froglet is sensitive to environmental changes from human activities such as fertilising and changed hydrology. Other animals can also be adversely affected if their normal conditions change. Therefore the design, construction and maintenance of landscaped areas are to be implemented with regard to protecting all local fauna. Over time, areas of native habitat have been degraded within the proposed development site. In order to protect biodiversity and improve the ecological integrity of remnant vegetation communities it is important that restoration and landscaping incorporate indigenous species that are important either as food.and or habitat for local faunal LandGraphics Maroochydore 04.05.2005 Landscape Architects and Environmental Planners PAGE 40
