For Noosa, these trends translate into the following local
implications
 ● Future upgrades at the NAC should embed universal design
principles to ensure accessibility for all. This includes features
like hoists, ramps, aquatic wheelchairs, low-sensory spaces
and inclusive change amenities. Such improvements will
ensure the NAC can continue to cater for the Shire’s ageing
population and rising prevalence of disability
 ● Council should also advocate for universal design principles
to be incorporated in aquatic upgrades delivered by other
   facility owners
 ● The NAC could position itself as a high-performance training
and warm-up venue in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032
 ● New and refurbished aquatic infrastructure must respond
to Noosa’s coastal climate and environmental ethos. This
means integrating sustainable design elements such as solar
generation, heat recovery, water conservation and extensive
shade, while improving air and water quality and reducing
   emissions
 ● Year-round aqua fitness, warm-water exercise and
rehabilitation programs should be expanded to meet the
   needs of older residents
 ● Where possible, facilities should offer a balanced calendar of
recreational, fitness, wellness and social programs that cater
to different ages, abilities and lifestyles. This includes linking
aquatic activity with community health and social connection
   outcomes
 ● Improved data collection and reporting across all publicly
accessible pools (including school lessee pools) will
   strengthen evidence-based decision-making and ensure
alignment of funding, scheduling and maintenance priorities
 ● Partnerships with neighbouring Councils, schools, health
agencies and tourism operators can maximise shared use
of infrastructure, deliver regional training hubs and attract
   major events
