Section 4: Competition
4.1 Retail specialty competition
The locations of relevant specialty retail areas are illustrated on the following
map.
Primary Trade Area
The primary trade area consists of two specialty retail nodes:
• Hastings Street precinct – includes 800 metres of street shopping and
1,120sqm of specialty retail within ‘Bay Village On Hastings’.
• Noosa Junction precinct – provides a number of small specialty stores
along Sunshine Beach Road well as specialty retail contained within Noosa
Fair and Noosa Plaza.
Other areas providing specialty retail floorspace within the PTA include small
convenience retail areas which are not considered competitive for specialty retail.
Secondary Trade Area
Specialty retail in the secondary trade area is mostly identified in Noosa Civic
Shopping Centre. Noosa Village Shopping Centre provides a lesser scale of
specialty retail while the Noosa River precinct and the Poinciana precinct provide
lesser but more traditional ‘main street’ type specialty retail.
