REPORT
Background
The 2016 Noosa Social Strategy recommends Council develop an Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan
(the Plan) in 2016/2017.
The Plan will audit the current state of the arts, cultural and heritage sectors within the Shire and
provide a blue print to assist audience development, community arts, cultural entrepreneurship,
heritage preservation, and professional artistic development.
The Plan will also identify how key stakeholders (including Council) can support the mechanisms
that enable residents and visitors to fully participate in the sector as a creator, entrepreneur,
practitioner or audience member.
It will:
review population and demographic forecasts;
consider current and future trends and participation in the arts, culture and heritage sectors;
review government (state and federal) strategic directions and resourcing policies;
audit existing community arts, creative industries, cultural and heritage activities (including events
and tourism) and infrastructure in the Shire;
explore the synergies and opportunities for local cultural development and conflicting demands
for local resources;
identify gaps, duplications or opportunities for partnerships in delivery of arts, culture and heritage
services and facilities; and
provide a roadmap for the future development of the arts, culture and heritage in the Shire.
