Pest and land managers face significant challenges if efficient and effective control of pests
is to be achieved. These challenges are as follows:
The high cost and effort required to control established pests.
Providing adequate support and resources for community environment groups.
Implementing efficient and effective control methods.
Public acceptance of pest control practices.
Dedicating resources to preventing the establishment of new pest species that are
difficult to detect.
Incomplete data about pest distributions and population dynamics.
The variability of stakeholder’s priorities and resources.
Uncontrolled pest sources on neighbouring properties.
Improving communication and coordination between landholders, community and
local and state bodies and ensuring cooperative programs across boundaries (both
property and council boundaries).
5. Policy context
