Fuel hazard estimate Assessment according to Hines et al 2010
Date: 29th June 2021
Layer Rating Description / Comments Equivalent fuel
load
t/ha
Surface and near surface Very High Very high litter bed 30 - 40mm with high NS fuels as 16 - 18
Gahnia sp, Xanthorrhoea sp, Lomandra sp and fine
native grasses.
Elevated High Canopy recruiters, Acacia sp, Lantana sp, Casuarina sp 3-5
High oil shrubs. Brush against vegetation much of the
time.
Bark Low Mainly low bark hazard L.confertus, E. grandis, 0
C.intermedia.
Overall rating Very High 20 - 23t/ha
Table 1. Fuel Assessment - Vegetation Community / Fuel Area 1
Vegetation community 1 is most representative of mapped Regional Ecosystem 12.11.2. The default total
available fuel load values attributed by State Government to Vegetation Hazard Class 8.1 is 35t/ha, 31t/ha of
which is surface and near surface fuel, and these values have been applied to site specific fire modelling as
required under Method 2 of AS3959-2018, in Section 6.3 of this Assessment. Note that these fuel loads are
greater than those assessed, representing a degree of redundancy in design.
