Attention: Dan Garnett / Kenneth Walker
Dear Mr Garnett and Mr Walker,
RE: REQUESTING ENDORSEMENT OF SEDIMENT SAMPLING AND ANALYIS PLAN
We have been engaged by Noosa Shire Council (Council) to prepare a sediment investigation report to
support their Development Application / Dredging Application for two sites within the Noosa River,
Queensland.
As part of this work, we plan to undertake a sediment quality assessment in the Noosa River at Noosa
River spit and adjacent to the Noosa river between Doonella Lake and Weyba Creek. This sediment
sampling (with subsequent laboratory analyses and data processing) aims to provide:
1. An assessment of the contaminant status of surficial sediments; and
2. An indication of sedimentary physical properties and potential acid sulphate soils.
The intention is to place all dredge materials within the coastal environment adjacent to each dredge
area, for erosion protection / beach nourishment purposes. We intend to follow Tier 1 assessment and
contaminant screening levels as per NEPM (National Environmental Protection Measures) and the
National Assessment Guidelines for Dredging (NAGD, 2009) for the assessment of physico-chemical
sediment properties.
We provide here (attached) our draft SAP for your review and feedback with regard to supporting the
abovementioned applications. We appreciate your assistance on this matter.
Yours Sincerely,
BMT
Jarrod Etherington
