In the existing approved drawings for Noosaville Dredging (2004), there were three mangroves identified and a
10m exclusion zone was specified for each plant (Figure 11). Only one of these mangroves was identified in the
updated marine plants survey (plant T35). One mangrove was no longer there, and one mangrove was outside of
the updated survey area. While plant T35 has a revised tree protection zone of 3.24m, management is not
required given no pneumatophores were exposed at the time of survey. Given that pneumatophore exposure is
expected to change over time, this highlights the need for regular marine plants surveys and pegging out of tree
protection zones prior to each dredging campaign.
