2.3 Additional Extraction Site
The proposed extraction area is an extension of approved Area 6 adjacent to Hilton Esplanade,
Noosaville (area bound in blue on Figure 2.4). The foreshore adjacent to the proposed
extraction area is protected by a rock revetment wall.

2.4 Noosa River Estuary
The replenishment and extraction areas are within the tidal reach of the Noosa River. The
majority of the estuary falls within declared Fish Habitat Areas. The fisheries habitat areas
provide protection and habitat management for estuarine commercial, recreational and
Indigenous fisheries. Take of fish from within fisheries habitat areas is restricted.

The location of the fish habitat area in relation to the extraction site along Hilton Esplanade and
the replenishment site along Gympie Terrace is shown in Figure 2.5. The extraction area
adjacent to Hilton Esplanade will be 25 m from the fisheries habitat area. This is in accordance
with the current approved offset distance for extraction Area 6.
