3 Proposed Project
Sand replenishment increases the width of land available to accommodate erosion.

To rectify erosion issues along the Gympie Terrace foreshore, sand/sediment will be reinstated.
The nourishment area at Munna Park will also reinstate sand. This sand will come from existing
approved and the additional proposed extraction area.

3.1 Potential impacts to marine plants
The marine plants on the foreshore and intertidal zone of the river have the potential to be
impacted by the uncontrolled placement of sand over root zones. Where present, seagrasses
have the potential for direct and indirect disturbances from sand extraction.

Suggested measures to mitigate, and/or compensate for these impacts have been provided in
this report.
