DESIGN BASIS Noosa River Caravan
7. Localised erosion occurs due to natural coastal processes and boat wakes. This impacts foreshore amenity, vegetation, parkland and Park Heritage Area
infrastructure. Dredge Area 1
8. Current approvals exist for dredge and nourishment, but these focus on historic sand shoals and erosion hotspots (refer drawing NRD-009). (-4.0m AHD max depth)
9. The Noosa River is dynamic. Shoals have migrated and additional areas require nourishment.

10. The proposed works provide a more flexible approach for the Noosa River southern foreshore from Hilton Esplanade to Weyba Creek. This
(-2.5m AHD max depth)
will allow Noosa Shire Council to manage dredging and nourishment activities in response to changing conditions.

DESCRIPTION
15. Dredging is to be undertaken in accordance with the Noosaville Concept Dredge management Plan (ICM, 2023). REV.NO. DATE BY ENG. APP.
16. Material is to be sand suitable for nourishment. Any unsuitable material encountered is not to be placed on the foreshore.
17. Dredging to be undertaken with suitable plant (e.g. small cutter suction dredger with cyclone). International
18. Dredge areas are to target shoals in close proximity to the nourishment area and minimise dredge depth by targeting shoals.
19. Dredging is to target uniform extraction across wide area (i.e. avoid digging holes).

20. Nourishment profile is to be consistent with natural foreshore profiles and transition smoothly to the existing profile at the works extent. Management

22. Acid sulfate validation testing to be undertaken at a rate of 1 test per 250m³ of disturbed material. In the event that the validation testing WEBSITE www.coastalmanagement.com.au
indicates the material is providing results above 18molH+/tonne (i.e. above the action criteria) a geotechnical expert is to be consulted and
